Roughness: Ra max. 0,2μm. Rt 3,0μm max.
Straightness: max. 0.3/1000mm
Roundness:within ½ of ISO tolerance.
Chrome layer thickness:

  • Ø < 20 = min. 14µm
  • Ø ≥ 20 = min. 20µm

Surface hardness: min. 900 HV0.1 (66 HRC) The surface hardness in the induction-hardened zone immediately beneath the chrome layer is min. 55 HRC (HV 595).

Hardening depth: 0.75 – 4.0mm depending on the diameter. Other hardening depths can be supplied by special arrangement.
Corrosion resistance: min. 120 – 200 hours in Neutral Salt Spray testing according to ISO 9227 standard or its equivalents, combined with evaluation according to ISO 10289. Rating ≥ 9. 500 and 1000 hours of corrosion resistance available on request.
Fields of application: 42CrMo4 chrome-plated bar is manufactured from low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel and supported by an induction hardened case offering greater strength and resistance to mechanical damage from external impact. It is used in applications requiring greater yield strength in combination with greater surface impact resistance.
